Georges Méliès, intimate and rediscovered testimonies about the first filmmaker
Book illustration & design commissioned by the Méliès family for a new book project on rediscovered and never revealed testimonies from Georges Méliès' most intimate circle. Their desire was to dig into Méliès' rich iconography whilst creating a contemporary look. I chose to go for a linocut approach, with symbols referring to Méliès' consistent fascination for the sun and the moon. The lines aim to evoke sunlight as well as the idea of "multitude" which was scattered across the filmmaker's work.
